A bride-to-be often has a lot on her mind. From deciding what kind of outfit to wear to how the venue should be decorated, there's always a lot on her plate. Likewise, one of the many things that a girl worries about is how to lose a few pounds so that her wedding dress fits like a glove. At the same time, she needs to be well energised to be able to run endless chores.

With the wedding season kicking in, here is a list of five eating habits to adopt ahead of your big day, as compiled from Women's Health magazine.

1. Opt for Omega-3

Dana Hunnes, assistant professor at UCLA's Fielding School of Public Health, says that consuming omega-3 is very good for your skin and health in general. "These are good for busting the bloat and keeping your body processes regular. You can easily bank on these by incorporating more flax seed, chia seed, and walnuts in your diet. Flax seed also can help with satiety, as they bulk up in water which will prevent you from overeating," she explains.

2. Eat more fruits and vegetables

For a glowing complexion throughout your wedding festivities, you should be taking extra care of your skin and hair. Inflammatory foods that contain high amounts of carbohydrates and sugar can make your skin look dull. Kristin Kirkpatrick, wellness manager at Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute, recommends a plant-based diet. "Great skin does not occur overnight. Lots of fruits and vegetables, and plant-based proteins like tofu and beans with small amounts of whole grains like quinoa, buckwheat, and oats can help you achieve glowing skin," she states.

3. Watch the salt

With the ongoing stress, make sure you cut down on salt. Not only does it create blood pressure related issues but it also leads to water retention, making you look bloated. Hunnes adds, "You may want to reduce your intake of foods with sodium. Most breads have 150 or more milligrams of sodium per slice so you might want to stop munching on those."

4. Don't skip meals

As your wedding day gets closer, you'll need to stay on the top your food game so that you don't crave any junk. Ilyse Shapiro, author of Should I Scoop Out My Bagel? says, "Eat breakfast within 60 to 90 minutes of waking up and then eat every three to four hours after that. This will keep your metabolism going, your energy up and blood sugars stable."

5. Drink wisely

Now if you're following a strict diet before your D-day, you need to make sure that you consume the right kinds of foods on the day of the ceremony as well. Keri Glassman, founder of Nutritious Life, mentions, "The goal is to stay hydrated while making sure that you don't feel bloated. But don't drink a lot of water as you might have to rush to the bathroom every now and then which won't be ideal if you're wearing a heavy dress."
