PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday approved the appointment of Dr Farooq Jamil as secretary health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, sources inform the Express Tribune.

Jamil, a former doctor and a serving bureaucrat, previously served K-P Health Department for five years. He is currently serving as additional commissioner in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The decision was made during the premier's visit to Peshawar last week. Sources added Jamil's name was suggested by K-P cabinet members.

In his first visit to Peshawar after assuming office, PM Imran stressed on setting up of hospital boards and bringing administrative reforms in the health sector.

He also directed authorities to complete the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit project and the Swat Motorway. PM Imran also urged for steps to promote tourism in the province and told the provincial government to launch an anti-encroachment drive similar to the one being spearheaded by the federal government in Islamabad.
