Delhi police claim to have nabbed two GoAir executives for taking away a mobile phone consignment from Indira Gandhi International Airport while posing as passengers, Hindustan Times reported on Tuesday.



Sachin Manya and Sattish Pal, GoAir senior ramp officers, were responsible for offloading cargo. Police said the men placed a bag with 53 mobile phones on a conveyor belt and walked out with it posing as passengers.

IGI Airport DC Sanjay Bhatia said a complaint had been lodged after the theft was reported.  "The manager (of a cargo company) said his shipment had arrived by a GoAir flight G8-229 from Patna at Terminal 2 of the airport. The complainant mentioned that due to space shortage, a part of the consignment was shifted to the warehouse."

While the consignment was being unloaded, the man noticed that the bag with the mobile phones was missing. The two suspects were nabbed following continuous technical surveillance.



Bhatia claimed they had confessed. He said eight of the phones had been recovered from their home. They sold five of the phones, Bhatia said.

Go Air remained unavailable for comments despite repeated requests.
