CSS Result 2018

Letter September 30, 2018
FPSC recently announced the written result of the competitive examination for this year 2018

KARACHI: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) announced the written result of the competitive examination for this year 2018 a week ago. Once again dismal performances and poor scores have tainted the picture. A total of 11,887 candidates appeared for the exam out of which only 569 students have passed the written examination. The ratio of successful candidates has dropped over the past four years with 3.3% in 2014, 3.1% in in 2015, 2.06% in 2016, 3.3% in 2017 with a slight increase for the ongoing year with 4.7%.

The disappointing result is an alarming situation for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC). The quarters concerned must take notice of poor CSS results and constitute a committee to identify the faults and loopholes in the system. Without meaningful reforms in the civil services, it is impossible to revamp the bureaucratic structure of the institutions of the country.

Undoubtedly, the Civil Services Examination have been the most competitive examination in the country for years, however, deteriorating results have shown the impact in the form of poor performance of the appointed officers in government offices. To mend the functioning of these offices it is important that the entire process is mended.
