ISLAMABAD: The government is likely to increase prices of petroleum products by up to Rs4 per litre in a monthly revision for October 2018.

According to sources in the Petroleum Division, the government may increase prices of a litre of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs4 each. Rates of kerosene oil and light diesel oil (LDO) may go up by Rs3 each.

If the government approves the increase in petroleum product prices, the price of petrol will go up from Rs92.83 to Rs96.83 per litre and HSD from Rs106.57 to Rs110.57 per litre.

Similarly, the price of kerosene oil will rise from Rs83.50 to Rs86.50 per litre and that of LDO from Rs75.96 to Rs78.96 per litre.

A spokesman for the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) stated that the monthly price review of petroleum products would be undertaken by the regulator and final recommendations would be sent to the Finance Division and Petroleum Division by September 30.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had reduced petroleum product prices by up to 5.6% for September.
