Two men convicted of possessing explosives in Multan

Both men were arrested by CTD during a raid on a hideout

MULTAN/SARGODHA:
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sentenced two people to three years’ imprisonment for possessing explosives in Multan on Thursday.

The prosecution told the court that the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police station, Multan, raided a hideout and arrested Sanaullah and Umar Javed.

The police also seized explosive material, four hand grenades and a pistol from their possession. The police registered a case against the accused under the anti-terrorism act and presented a challan in the court.

During proceedings, the accused were found guilty and sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment. The judge also ordered that the property of the convicts be confiscated.


Meanwhile, a drug pusher was convicted by a sessions court in Sargodha. Additional District and Sessions Judge Javed Iqbal Ranjha awarded four-and-a-half-year imprisonment, with a fine of Rs20,000, to Ghulam Dastagir.

The accused was involved in smuggling narcotics while 1,064 grammes of hashish were also seized.

Earlier, on September 14, an ATC awarded 24 years imprisonment to two people involved in a shootout with the police in Jhang.
