Mumbai police claim to have nabbed a man for molesting his nine-year-old granddaughter a day before she was scheduled to undergo a heart surgery, Times of India reported.



The girl alerted a hospital nurse after saying she knew what constituted "good and bad touch". The child has been living at a Hingoli orphanage since her mother's passing. She was admitted to the hospital by an NGO after being diagnosed with a hole in her heart.

"Her grandfather was accompanying her. The incident took place on September 22. The girl told us she was in bed when her grandfather touched her inappropriately. She called the nurse on duty and told her about it. The nurse informed a doctor and higher-ups were apprised. The hospital informed us," Agripada police said.



A molestation complaint has been registered. Pertinent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act Sections have also been invoked, an official said.
