United States National Security Adviser John Bolton on Tuesday said   Iran will have "hell to pay", if the US, its citizens or allies are targeted, BBC reported.

The former US envoy to the United Nations (UN) delivered the warning while speaking at the United Against Nuclear Iran summit in New York. He said the "murderous regime of mullahs in Tehran" would have to face the music if they continue to "lie, cheat and deceive"."Let my message today be clear: We are watching, and we will come after you."

Bolton, a votary of military action against Iran, said the US would aggressively enforce sanctions against Tehran.  His comments came in wake of US President Donald Trump's UNGA speech wherein he accused Iran of sowing "chaos, death and destruction" across the Middle East.

EU announces legal entity to maintain business with Iran

The US withdrew from the 2015 Iran nuclear deal in 2018. Reached during the tenure of former president Barrack Obama, the agreement limited Iranian nuclear activities in return for economic relief. Remaining signatories,  The United Kingdom, China, France, Germany and Russia continue to remain party.
