Trump began his address by stating that this was the second time he was speaking at the UNGA and began to highlight the ‘progress’ his administration has made since he assumed office.

“I stand before the United Nations General Assembly to share the extraordinary progress we’ve made. In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country,” said Trump.
Unable to resonate with the substance of his words, world leaders burst into laughter. “I did not expect that reaction but that’s okay," said the US president after the unexpected reaction from the attendees.

During his address, Trump also assailed Iran's leaders, accusing them of sowing "chaos, death and destruction" and calling on world governments to isolate Tehran.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani shot back in his speech, denouncing leaders who have "xenophobic tendencies resembling a Nazi disposition" and slamming the planned council meeting as a "preposterous and abnormal act."
