German ambassador to Pakistan has pointed out the seemingly rise in garbage in Islamabad, calling for corrective action to be taken.

Martin Kobler highlighted the issue via Twitter on Tuesday by sharing a selfie on the side of a road in Sector F-7 of the federal capital, in which garbage is heaped up in the foreground.

"There are beautiful parts [in Islamabad], but there are also small dumpsites everywhere like here in F 7/4 street 56," he wrote on the micro-blogging website.

The diplomat went on to say that action must be taken to rectify the problem as waste can lead to the spread of dangerous diseases such as Dengue.

While raising a question over the performance of the civic authorities Kobler said: "It seems solid waste disposal does not work in many parts."

According to a local media reports, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended two officials after Kobler's tweet.

German envoy wins Pakistan over with tweets

Earlier on September 1, it was reported that the city’s waste-bins, due to civic authorities’ inability to collect garbage in time, are becoming breeding places for mosquitoes and also forcing the citizens to suffer a bothersome odour, potentially creating health hazards.

These over-stuffed dumpsters, with rubbish pouring out, are becoming breeding grounds for diseases and call for immediate measures to rectify the situation.

User | 6 years ago | Reply We Pakistani's are very happy to know that we have a friend from Germany, good job. I hope those responsible have taken notice, if the ambassador ever visits Karachi, I don't know what he would say. But it is good that we have people who wish to improve our environment. Like our Chief Justice, German ambassador has taken the hint and started forays into other matters.
