Leader of the Opposition Shehbaz Sharif criticised the Imran Khan-led government on Tuesday for lacking the vision to craft a financial policy.

Speaking at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) parliamentary meeting, the PML-N president said present circumstances posed a bigger challenge to the opposition than the government.

“The mini-budget proved that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has no vision to craft a policy that can provide relief to the masses,” he said. He added the opposition will continue to reject every step by the government that burdens the nation.

“We are not criticising for the sake of criticism, but to instil democratic, constitutional and parliamentary values. We have to solidify the masses’ belief in the Parliament.”

The PML-N president also his party will prove to the nation through its actions that the opposition was working to realise their hopes and expectations. “We will prove that we do not just make big claims but implement them.”

During the meeting, the members decided to closely watch the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), local bodies system and other development programmes and continuously update the public on the progress.

The former Punjab chief minister asserted that the opposition will play a historic role and will not let down the nation.
