Speaking at a press conference on Monday, PMA President Dr Masoodul Hiraj said that the government should follow K-P Healthcare Service Persons and Institutions Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property Act 2018 to ensure doctors’ security in the province. He said that it would help check incidents like the one occurring in Rahim Yar Khan’s Sheikh Zayed Hospital last week, where a sweeper attempted to assault a lady doctor.
Accompanied by PMA General Secretary Dr Rana Khawar, Information Secretary Dr Imran Rafiq and other office-bearers, he demanded the Punjab government to hold an impartial inquiry into the incident.
“Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has given us an appointment on September 26 for a meeting in this connection,” he said. He requested doctors not to close OPDs of public hospitals and provide treatment facilities to patients.
