KARACHI: The health department has decided to establish a forensic DNA laboratory at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) at Karachi University.

Pechuho said the health department will provide forensic equipment and funds from the health departments' reserved funds for research in the first phase. She said all forensic DNA testing will be provided free-of-charge in the laboratory.

She said that in the second phase, the health department will work with ICCBS on women's breast cancer and stem cell to reduce women health issues in the province, adding that unfortunately in the past, politics were played in the varsities instead of modern research.

She also said that they are working with ICCBS Director, Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, to resolve various issues of ICCBS. On this occasion, KU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan was also present.
