The court passed the order following a complaint by advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha who claimed that the title of the film made fun of the holy festival of Navaratri. He had also alleged that the promos of the movie suggested that it contained vulgarity and could hurt sentiments.

A few days ago, the Tubelight actor announced the film's change of title via Twitter. "This is not a spelling mistake," he wrote.

Besides Khan, those named in the FIR are lead pair Aayush Sharma and Warina Hussain, director Abhiram Minawala and character artists Ram Kapoor and Ronit Roy.
