Rawalpindi needs parking plazas, says mayor

Vertical parking facility will end parking on the roads, opening another lane for movement of vehicles

RAWALPINDI: Mayor Naseem Khan has said that the Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) is considering construction of parking plazas to reduce congestion on roads.

Vertical parking facility will end parking on the roads thus opening up another lane for the movement of vehicles. Moreover, these parking plazas will allow a safe place to keep vehicles without fear of theft, he said talking to Daily Express.

The RMC will earn from parking fee and other rental income of the real estate of these plazas, he said. He acknowledged that the city was facing challenges in providing parking facilities to people due to which the corporation was planning to construct parking plazas. These plazas will not only solve the parking crisis but also allow smooth flow of traffic, the mayor said.

A parking plaza is present in karachi owned by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation.
