Unemployment affecting youths

Letter September 21, 2018
Incumbent government should focus on providing jobs to the youth of the country

KECH, TURBAT: The rise of unemployment in Pakistan has adversely impacted the country’s youth. Many of these young persons, even those from privileged backgrounds, get addicted to drugs owing to the lack of job opportunities in the market upon completing their education. Others take up odd jobs such as working at a garage or supermarkets to support their families. A few also get into criminal activities as a means to support themselves through the money they have looted.

The focus on curbing crimes in the country almost always stays on putting criminals behind bars, instead of paying attention to the root cause of it — one of which being unemployment.

The incumbent government should focus on providing jobs to the youth of the country — a significant segment of the population that is often left to fend for itself.
