Afghan envoy to India resigns during Ghani's visit

Afghanistan's ambassador to India, Shaida Mohammad Abdali, resigned on Wednesday during an official visit by President Ashraf Ghani to the South Asian country.

Abdali handed his resignation to the Afghan premier after serving as Afghanistan's envoy to India for six years.

Pakistan denies opening Afghan trade route for India

The envoy tweeted out his resignation and added he felt the need to return to Afghanistan and serve his country from within. “Serving my country for years in India, I felt the need to return and serve my country from within.”

The statesman also added he was grateful to have served the Indian government and the people.
