No knowledge of Saudi bailout package: FO

Details to be announced after the PM's visit has concluded

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Faisal on Wednesday denied any knowledge of a Saudi bailout package to shore up the country's fast depleting foreign reserves.

The denial comes as Prime Minister Imran Khan is on a two-day visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Faisal said details, if any, will be announced only after the official visit has concluded.



During the weekly press briefing, the FO spokesperson said that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi's visit to Afghanistan was productive and a decision was taken to hold a conference of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS) during the second week of October.

Referring to the opening of the Kartarpur border, Faisal said that no official contact with the Indian government has been made although Pakistan will continue to keep an open mind regarding the issue.

Faisal also referred to occupied Kashmir and said several people in Kashmir have been martyred by Indian occupational forces in the past week and pictures circulating on social media resonate the human rights condition in the region.

During a session of the United Nations General Assembly, no verdict was reached in regards to a meeting of foreign ministers from Pakistan and India, however, talks still continue on a diplomatic level, added Faisal.

The issue of Occupied Kashmir was also discussed during the visit of the Chinese foreign minister, said the FO.
