'Suspended' PIA air hostess 'manages' to travel on Toronto flight, goes missing

A Pakistan International Airline (PIA) air hostess, who was earlier barred from traveling on international routes, has gone missing in Canada, Express News reported on Tuesday.

Fareeha Mukhtar, who was suspended from service in 2015 over allegation of smuggling of currency and mobile phones, went missing following the Lahore-Toronto flight. Mukhtar was earlier barred from service on all international routes, including the US.

Talking to The Express Tribune, PIA spokesperson Mashhood Tajwar said Mukhtar traveled on September 15 from Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore on PK-789 flight to Toronto.




The air hostess is originally from Lahore but she was assigned to the flight from Karachi in connivance with some officials of the People's Unity of PIA Employees.

The national flag carrier has been fined $8,000 for the violation. Authorities have launched an investigation in to the incident as well informed the Canadian police about the incident. Moreover, a show cause notice has also been issued against the missing employee.

PIA has been in the media spotlight recently with a video of a Polish national dancing on an the airline's flight to 'celebrate' Pakistan's Independence Day.
