6 civilians injured in grenade attack on forces’ convoy

Three wounded referred to Quetta for better treatment

QUETTA: Just a day after a Levies personnel Muhammad Afzal was martyred by unidentified men in Pishin, at least six persons were injured in a hand grenade attack on a security forces’ convoy in Kharan on Monday night.

According to Levies force, unidentified persons hurled a hand grenade on a forces’ convoy passing through the main market of Kharan city, injuring six civilians. “After the attack, the attackers managed to escape taking advantage of rush and narrow streets in the area.”

A heavy contingent of law enforcement agencies flanked by rescue workers rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to district headquarter hospital.

Three critically injured had been referred to Quetta for better medical treatment while the other three’s condition was said to be stable.
So far no group has claimed responsibility of the attack but Baloch separatist groups are active in the area, attacking forces and labourers belonging to Punjab.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and a kicked off a search operation to nab the attackers.
