Shootout: Seven killed over land dispute

UPPER DIR: At least seven people including two women were killed and several others injured over a land dispute concerning the construction of a micro-hydel power station in Upper Dir.

Crossfire took place between two armed groups, which resulted in the death of four persons from one party and three from the other.

The incident occurred in a far-flung mountainous area and the arrival of police also took time.

Later, there was an arson attempt on the house of a member of one of the disputing parties.

The police later registered an FIR on the incident and further investigations are in progress.
