LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif departed for London early Wednesday to bring back the body of Kulsoom Nawaz for burial, Express News reported.

The former first lady passed away at a hospital in Britain’s capital on September 11 after a protracted battle with cancer. Sources said her body was temporarily moved to a mortuary in London.

Shehbaz is scheduled to return with Kulsoom’s body on Friday and her funeral will be held on the same day. She will be buried at the Sharif family graveyard in Jati Umra.

Shortly after the demise of Kulsoom, the former chief minister flew to Rawalpindi to meet his elder brother Nawaz at Adiala Jail. The Sharif brothers discussed funeral arrangements in detail and agreed that Hassan and Hussain would not travel to Pakistan.

Sons Hassan and Hussain were declared absconders by an accountability court hearing corruption references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in lieu of Supreme Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case.
