Agreement signed: KMU, KCD to collaborate on diagnostic and research facilities

Officials hope collaboration will generate high-quality research for the benefit of health in the province

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Medical University (KMU) and the Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD) have signed an agreement on diagnostic and research collaboration.

The 10-year-long Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by KMU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Arshad Javaid and KCD Principal Professor Dr Ghulam Rasool on behalf of their respective institutions.

The agreement is aimed at increasing mutual scientific and technical co-operation as well as collaborative research activities in the field of dentistry within both partners.

KMU and KCD have undertaken to pursue a programme of academic, research, scientific and technical collaboration for exchanging ideas, skills and techniques on problems of mutual interests.

Both parties have agreed upon exchange and training of scientific and technical personnel for teaching, research and development in the basic field of dentistry and other related mutual fields pertaining to the interest of both the parties.

The two organisations will cooperate with each other in the exchange of students and faculty for scientific and technical collaboration in laboratory sciences as and when required by both the organizations.

It was also decided that both organisations will hold joint conferences, seminars and symposia or workshops and invited lectures on national and international issues, joint supervision of research-related activities in the areas of mutual interest and visit and utilisation of each other’s research and technical facilities as and when required after mutual consent will also be the part of MoU.

Both parties will appoint liaison officers who hold periodic meetings to work out the details of cooperation on such terms and conditions as agreeable to both the parties and to monitor their implementation and prepare annual progress reports.

Dr Javaid expressed his satisfaction over the mutual cooperation of both institutions and hoped that this agreement will pave ways for the exchange of innovative ideas, research activities and training skills.

Both Institutes have a huge research potential, which could fully be explored through research collaborations, he said, hoping that the collaboration will generate high-quality research for the benefit of science and betterment of health and education of the province.
