KARACHI: Now we all love the Humayun Saeeds, the Mahira Khans, the Mawra Hocanes and the Fahad Mustafas of Pakistan. But let's be honest: We are slowly tiring of seeing the same faces on our media and social media all day, every day.

Of course, these are just a handful of the A-listers of our entertainment industry. There are plenty other equally talented artists who have starred in fewer projects but surely proved their mettle, right? Well, in the hopes of motivating them to grace our screens more, here is a list of five local celebrities that we'd like to see more of. Fingers crossed!

1. Adnan Malik

This model-turned-actor has always been an integral part of Pakistani entertainment. He has directed numerous TV commercials, music videos, documentaries and short films, one of which - Bijli - even won at the Kara Film Festival.

Adnan made his acting debut in 2007 with Zibahkhana but only came into the limelight when he starred opposite Mahira in 2014's Sadqay Tumharay.

He was later seen with Sanam Saeed in Dil Banjaara before his lead  role in Cake. The 34-year-old earned praises for his role in the Asim Abbasi directorial, proving that he knows his craft as an actor and isn't just easy on the eyes.

2. Syra Shehroz

Speaking of being easy on the eyes, Syra started her career as a VJ before making her acting debut in 2011's Mera Naseeb. She did a few TV shows, followed by a cameo in 2016's Ho Mann Jahaan.

The following year, Syra graced the silver screen with her big film debut Chalay Thay Saath. Even her second film Project Ghazi was scheduled to release in 2017 but got delayed due to technical concerns. While the beauty is often spotted at award ceremonies and fashion weeks, we'd be lying if we said it's been a while since we saw her on-screen.

3. Marina Khan

The 55-year-old got her big break back in 1985 through the hit TV show Tanhaiyaan. Marina quickly became a household name as an actor and ventured into direction and production thereafter.

In 2012, Marina appeared with Behroz Sabzwari in the sequel of Tanhaiyaan, cleverly titled Tanhaiyaan Naye Silsilay. While she still directs TV shows, the veteran doesn't act as often. Lucky for us,  she was seen in Na Maloom Afraad 2 and Punjab Nahi Jaungi. This year, she made a cameo in Parwaaz Hai Junoon. But it's about time we see her playing a crucial role again.

4. Zia Mohyeddin

After doing theatre, Zia made his film debut in 1962 with Lawrence of Arabia. He worked in the UK for almost 47 years before returning to Pakistan.

In the late 60s, he started his television talk show The Zia Mohyeddin Show, best remembered for its rap-style song segment. During the time, Zia also starred in numerous TV shows and is now an avid speaker and poet. The 85-year-old's acting skills and commanding presence should not be wasted. It would be great to see him star in the next big Pakistani blockbuster!

5. Fawad Khan

Much to the dismay of his Pakistani and Indian fans, Fawad Khan is very selective with his projects. He started off as a vocalist with the rock band EP and later made his acting debut with Shaan Shahid in 2007's Khuda Ke Liye.

Fawad then ventured into TV with Dastaan but it was his lead role in Humsafar that turned him into a nationwide sensation. The 36-year-old then took Bollywood by storm in Khoobsurat and later, Kapoor & Sons.

Fawad serves as a judge on Pepsi Battle of the Bands and even had a cameo in Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 this year, we haven't had enough of him! The actor is currently filming Maula Jatt 2 so let's hope we get to see more of him soon.

Mira | 5 years ago | Reply Why is Syra included in the list as though she is the most beautiful and talented actress. We all know she is neither and there are many actresses in Pakistan who are far prettier and more talented than her.
Resham | 5 years ago | Reply I would never want to see Syra on big or small screen. She got a break in showbiz only due to nepotism despite having no looks and zero talent. In case of Fawad I would wish to see him only on the big screen because the television screen is far too small for his unmatched screen presence.
