MPA wants probe into Pakistan’s poor performance
Hina Pervez Butt slams below-par showing of Pakistani athletes

PML-N MPA Hina Pervez Butt from the opposition benches demanded that the government take note of the poor performance of Pakistani players in the Asian games.
She put the demand forward through a resolution submitted in the Punjab Assembly. She added that those responsible for the inadequate showing should be brought to book after an audit of funds being received by the Pakistan Sports Board and Pakistan Olympic Association.

She said the performance of the Pakistani players not only damaged the image of the country, but also hurt the sentiments of locals. She said some of the performances were astonishing and raised the eyebrows of everyone in the country. She stated that 358 Pakistani players participated in the games but no one succeeded in winning even a single gold medal.
She pointed out that this was despite the Pakistan Sports Board spending tens of millions on the players. However, the results remained disappointing. She said only three bronze medals were secured in the aforementioned games, while the rest players failed to win a name for Pakistan.

She said the players who participated in 18th Asian games were recommended by the Pakistan Olympic Association. “It was very disappointing when Pakistan stood in 34th position with three bronze medals.” She termed the Pakistani players’ performance as the most shameful in the history of the Asian games.
She demanded the government take serious notice of the matter and bring those “responsible” to book after auditing the funds being received.
