Afridi wants Akhtar at his best on return

LAHORE: Pakistan captain for the Asia Cup and the tour of England Shahid Afridi has urged fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar to prove himself as a genuine force in front of the world once again. Shoaib, who has not represented Pakistan for over a year, was named in the 35-man probables squad and is expected to be part of Pakistan’s squad for the Asia Cup that will be held in Sri Lanka from June 15.

“I spoke to Shoaib and realised that he’s still keen to play and wants to do something for Pakistan,” said Afridi. “Given how he performed in the Pentangular Cup, he’s still a great player and has the potential to serve Pakistan. Such players should not be wasted and it’s not just me but the whole world wants to see him back in action.”

Afridi has also urged selectors to pick young blood for the Asia Cup. “We should have three to four new players with the seniors so that we can strike the right balance in the one-day side. Through this, we can find prospects and the event would allow exposure to the younger players.”

I am from Kashmir (india) and i m a great fan of Pakistani Cricket not because i love that country but i like the aggression and strength of those players who play for Pakistani Team. I think Shoaib akhtar should be given a chance to prove himself once again. What ever he does or he did happens in our life. After all we are human beings not super-humans.Combination of shoaib Akhtar, Asif and Umar Gul; this is all they required and trust me that is goin to be a threat not only to any particular nation but to whole world. Imran Nazir and Kamran akmal if plays for open pair that is going to ba plus point. These are my thoughts. I m not sure if u agree with me or not but i know this decision (if taken) is goin to help the Pakistani Cricket a lot. Cheers freinds Rayan illahi
