RAWALPINDI: With the Westridge park turning into a ‘wasteland’ residents of the area have urged the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) re-start work on beautifying the park.

"We have lodged complaints with the authorities concerned time and again, but no one has paid any attention to our requests," said Miraj Khan, a resident of Westridge area of Rawalpindi.

"Our children have to play in the streets since the park is covered in wild bushes, and there is always the danger of poisonous insects lurking, especially in the rainy season,” said Muhammad Adeel, another resident of the area.

Owing to the growth of wild bushes on the green belt, people are unable to cross it. As a result, one has to walk for a long distance to go around it. An RCB official said that the process of beautifying parks and creating play areas for children apart from weeding the green belts in the cantonment area is expected to start soon, whereas the trimming of wild bushes and shrubs and grass is also in progress.
