Courts: ‘Foolproof security required’

The judicial officers exclusively engaged with criminal work shall be provided additional security.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) issued directions to the Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure foolproof security arrangements in courts around the province and report to the court within seven days. Through a circular, the Chief Justice directed the IGP that comprehensive security plans for all court premises and judicial officers shall be chalked out under the direct supervision of regional police officers (RPOs) and the capital city police officer (CCPO). The CJ said that before finalising the security plans, a meeting shall be held with the district and sessions judges and bar associations. There shall be monitoring of the performances of the officers assigned security duty at the courts and for judicial officers, the circular added. The judicial officers exclusively engaged with criminal work shall be provided additional security, the CJ said.
