Muharram security: Police to revamp 55 check posts
12,000 security personnels deployed and further measures taken before Muharram
ISLAMABAD:
The police have decided to revamp and upgrade 55 check posts around the city, especially those built at the entry and exit points of the city to ensure tight security during Muharram apart from deploying 12,000 security personnel. Police have decided to provide additional officers to the relevant police stations for effective patrolling in their respective areas and enhanced checking at check posts. A police officer said that during rush hour, lanes controlled by the opened checkpoints are opened to ensure smooth flow of traffic but in the first 10 days of Muharram, traffic will be diverted onto alternate routes.
