MUZAFFARGARH: Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) offices in Muzaffargarh have served notices to 41 different departments regarding the payment of power bills. All the departments have been instructed to pay their electric bills as soon as possible to avoid disconnection.  According to Wapda Xen Division in charge Wazir Ali, Wapda needs to recover Rs35 million from 41 separate government departments or the authority will go into a deficit. He said that power supply would be suspended in cases where the department failed to submit the arrears. “This has been happening in several departments and larger government offices appeal to higher ups and get an extension to avoid paying up their bills,” said Ali, “This won’t happen again. We are determined to collect the outstanding amount because not doing so will mean putting our own offices in danger of closure,” he added.
