Kharotabad shooting

Reports of commissions and tribunals are never made public and nor are those responsible punished.

LAHORE:
On May 17, 2011 the capital city police officer for Quetta, Dawood Junejo, claimed that five suicide bombers tried to approach an FC check post in Kharotabad but they were gunned down by the FC and police personnel before they could reach their target. The facts proved to be otherwise. The post-mortem report on the bodies showed that the five died as a result of bullet wounds.

The chief minister of Balochistan ordered a judicial investigation into the Kharotabad shoot-out, but only after a massive public and media outcry. In addition, the chief justice of Pakistan has also taken notice of the incident and ordered the chief secretary of the province to send findings of the judicial commission’s report to the court.

Commissions and tribunals are formed after every tragic incident but unfortunately their reports are usually never made public and nor are those responsible punished.
