The Indian envoy was summoned by the Foreign Office (FO) on Wednesday to protest unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian army along the Line of Control (LoC).
The incident took place in the Kotkotera sector of the LoC and a Pakistani civilian was martyred.
The Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned by Foreign Officer Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal to register protest over the ceasefire violation.

“The Indian Forces have carried out more than 2000 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary, resulting in the martyrdom of 32 innocent civilians, while injuring 122 others,” the FO said in a statement. “This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations.”
“The deliberate targeting of civilian population areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws. The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation,” it added.

In the meeting, Faisal urged India to respect the 2003 Ceasefire arrangement between the neighbouring countries, launch a probe into incidents of ceasefire violations and let UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions. He asked Singh to instruct Indian forces to respect ceasefire.
