Dengue threat: 25 test positive for the virus in Pindi

RAWALPINDI: With as many as 25 people, including women and children, so far testing positive for dengue, the city is facing a threat of dengue.

This was warned by District Health Officer Dr Zeeshan as he warned that September was crucial for the spread of dengue. He directed all departments to remain vigilant to cope with any situation.

He said that rains in the month of August and the declining temperature has increased the threat of dengue spreading in the region.

The DHO further said that so far as many as 1,230 people suspected to be infected with the dengue fever have been brought to the allied hospitals of the city. Of these, 25 had tested positive for the virus and were being provided with the required treatment. Dr Zeeshan said fogging and surveillance has been strengthened in the areas from where patients are being reported while anti-dengue spray is also being carried out at bus terminals.

He advised the residents to use mosquito nets or mosquito repellants like mats and coils.
