FGEHF to hand over possession of plots to 400 recipients this week

Govt reveals plan to demolish slum areas in Islamabad to establish suitable accomodation

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) will hand over the possession of G-14/2 and G-14/3 plots to 400 recipients in the first week of September 2018.

FGEFH Spokesperson said on Friday, that the foundation had already handed over rightful possession to over 600 recipients including 380 recipients in November 2016 and 313 recipients in March 2017. The development work of two sub-sectors is going on and those recipients, who have cleared their dues as well as paid all the development charges, are being given possession of the plots in these sub-sectors.

The spokesperson added that the FGEHF Executive Committee has decided not to take any additional charges from the recipients like Built-up Properties charges etc. as most of the employees had retired from their services and it is very difficult for them to arrange a huge amount of money to pay the charges.



He stated that FGEHF has sent a layout plan of G-14 to Capital Development Authority (CDA) but so far it has not been approved. Electricity work has almost been completed and 85% land has been vacated from land grabbers in G-14. FGEHF spent one billion rupees on the rehabilitation of G-13 sector and another one billion rupees was spent on the rehabilitation of street lights, road networks, sewerage system and garbage collection. G-13 was established in 1996 and it required rehabilitation work as FGEHF was spending Rs2.2 million for garbage collection monthly and Rs80 million was spent on water supply to the residents of said sector.

He revealed that the government is planning to demolish all slum areas in Islamabad and provide a decent residence to the people of slum areas. He said around three years ago, a list of 1,500 journalists had been sent to the Ministry of Information and Broadcast for verification but so far the FGEHF has not received any response from the ministry. The matter of concern was that the number of plots was found to be more than the number of journalists; however the final list is yet to be approved by the ministry. Despite the fact that providing basic amenities to G-13 residents was solely the responsibility of CDA, the FGEHF was supplying clean drinking water to them on its own. He informed that as a municipal corporation, CDA is collecting all kinds of taxes from the dwellers of the Sector therefore it was its sole responsibility to ensure provision of water supply, street lights, garbage collection and maintain a peaceful environment in the Sector. He said that the Foundation is paying water subsidy of Rs115 per tanker for each resident besides the Foundation’s twelve water tankers supplying water for just Rs400 per tanker. The Foundation was also spending Rs2.2 million per month for garbage collection in G-13 through a private firm, he told.
