Performance will speak for itself

PTI has sped up the process for the implementation of its plans and reforms for the first 100 days of its governance

LAHORE: A lot is being said about the new government and its 100-Day Agenda. There is no doubt that the PTI has sped up the process for the implementation of its plans and reforms for the first 100 days of its government. ‘Bans’, in particular, have taken up the major part of the agenda. Ban on VIP protocol at airports, ban on the use of luxury vehicles and what not. But new measures are yet to be introduced.

Moreover, the response of the new federal minister for human rights to a letter from Human Rights Watch was rather authoritative and stark. Instead of admitting the increasing cases of human rights abuse in the country, the minister schooled the watch body over its letter. It would have been better if the minister concerned had talked about the changes her ministry intends to bring in the realm of human rights in the country.

Above all, performance of the incumbent government will speak for itself and not the rebuttals issued to autonomous bodies and the opponents.
