Issues of Gorakh Hill Station

One of the most famous places in Sindh is the Gorakh Hill Station

QASIMABAD, HYDERABAD: One of the most famous places in Sindh is the Gorakh Hill Station. A lot of people visit the place to spend their vacations. But residents of the area, who cater to these tourists, are crying for justice.

They were promised development funds by the Sindh government in order to develop the hill station and their life as well. But these funds are yet to arrive. Why is the National Accountability Bureau, the Federal Investigation Agency and other relevant agencies doing nothing about this?

Residents of Wahi Pandhi — the area leading up to the hill station — have been protesting for the last 26 days against rampant corruption in the area but no government official has paid heed to the issue. The Sindh government seems to be deaf to their grievances.

Roads leading up to the Gorakh Hill Station are broken because of which visitors meet with accidents. The Sindh government claims to have done many things in the area but the results are all too visible.

Despite the increasing number of visitors at the hill station, the area is mired in poverty. There are people who cannot afford a square a meal. Besides, the lack of medical facilities and of doctors makes life difficult for local residents. Whatever fund that does come in the name of development goes directly into the pockets of corrupt officials.

We have appealed to the Supreme Court, NAB and the FIA through letters many a time but to no avail. Again it is our request to the authorities concerned to take action on these issues.
