There are too many biopics being made: Deepika Padukone
Actor was recently asked about the changing trends in Bollywood...
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has been in the news lately due to rumours of her upcoming wedding with Bajirao Mastani co-star Ranveer Singh. But that's not all she's been making headlines for.
When asked recently about the changing trends in Bollywood, Deepika stated that today's day and age sees a certain sense of repetitiveness in film scripts, especially biopics, reported The Indian Express.
“I feel like there are too many biopics being made. In the last few months, I can’t count the number of biopics that we’ve been offered. And they’re all great; they’re very strong and powerful. But when it comes to a film, after a point, how much are you going to tell me about those struggles? Even a common man on the street has had a similar journey, if you ask me,” Deepika said.

If we look back, just 2018 saw so many films that were either biopics or based on true stories. To name a few, they include Sanju, Raazi and Padman.
However, it does not seem like this 'trend' will be dying anytime soon as there are numerous biopics in the making such as Manikarnika, Super 30 and the Abhinav Bindra biopic. Sanju raised roofs with its release, becoming a box office blockbuster in a short amount of time so it's no wonder other Indian film-makers want to jump on the biopic bandwagon too.
