'Honour killing': Father, uncle gun down couple in Jhang

Police say accused allegedly found victims in objectionable position

LAHORE: In what seems to be an honour killing case, a woman and her friend were allegedly shot dead in Jhang’s Saddar area on Sunday.

A police official said that 24-year-old Fauzia had befriended 30-year-old Imran. He added that the couple would meet while their families unaware of their relationship.

The official maintained that on the day of the incident, Fauzia went to Imran’s house.

In the meantime, the woman’s father and other family members came to know of the matter.

“In a fit of rage, the woman’s father Iqbal, uncle Yaseen and two cousins rushed opened fire on them,” the police official stated.

As a result, both were killed on the spot. The police said that after conducting initial investigations and recording statements of the witnesses, they had ascertained that the woman’s family members had allegedly found the couple in an objectionable position, therefore they killed them.

However, a case had been registered against the culprits and raids were being carried out to nab them.
