Teenager ‘commits suicide’ over scuffle with husband

18-year-old girl allegedly jumped off fifth floor of a building in Lyari

KARACHI: An 18-year-old married girl died under mysterious circumstances after she allegedly jumped off the fifth floor of a building in the Lyari neighbourhood.

Police officials said that the incident took place at Khadda Market in Lyari within the limits of the Baghdadi police station. The teenager allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the building's fifth floor on the first day of Eid. She was critically wounded and immediately taken to Civil hospital where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.



Quoting the initial investigation, police said the victim was unhappy with her husband and scuffles between the husband and wife were routine. The deceased allegedly committed suicide after being disheartened from married life, police said, adding that the incident was being investigated from different angles.

A few months ago, a newly-wed young woman also died after she fell from the sixth floor of a building in Karachi's Delhi Colony. Initially, her family claimed that she committed suicide, however, the police later arrested her mother-in-law and other in-laws for throwing her from the top of the building and killing her.
