Fire erupts at factory, warehouse on first two days of Eid

KARACHI: A thread manufacturing factory was gutted as a third degree fire broke out in the New Karachi area on the first day of Eid.

Fire brigade officials said the fire damaged two more factories in the surrounding area.



The blaze at the thread manufacturing factory near Saba Cinema in New Karachi’s Industrial Area was brought under control after a hectic effort of four hours. Reacting on information, the fire brigade department dispatched at least three fire tenders to the site to extinguish the blaze. However, at least seventeen more vehicles with water bowsers and a snorkel were sent to the factory to extinguish the blaze which was raging on.

Fire brigade officials declared it a third degree fire. They said as the blaze was intense and due to fast winds, the fire also caused damaged to at least two more nearby factories.

According to the fire brigade spokesperson, the thread manufacturing factory was burnt to ashes which caused of loss worth millions of rupees. The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.

The blaze was brought under control within four hours while cooling operations were underway till the second day of Eid, the fire brigade spokesperson informed.

No casualties were reported.



Another blaze

Similarly, a fire erupted at the warehouse of a superstore located at Awami Markat on Sharae Faisal on the second day of Eid.

Reacting on information, at least two fire tenders were rushed to the site. However, four more fire tenders from the fire brigade department of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and two from the Pakistan Navy also reached the site due to the intensity of the blaze. According to the fire brigade department, the warehouse of the superstore was completely burnt to ashes and caused a loss of millions of rupees. The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained.

An extra contingent of law enforcers, including police and Rangers also reached the site to help the firefighters. No case was registered as the police said no criminal act was found behind the incident.
