Taking his first notice as prime minister of the country, Imran Khan has directed authorities concerned to take necessary action for the treatment of Mehak Anwar – a teenage table-tennis player from Karachi suffering from cancer.

The notice was taken after a section of media reported about the 16-year-old girl’s ordeal. Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry took to Twitter to announce Khan’s directives on Tuesday, Express News reported.

According to the reports, Mehak has been suffering from cancer for the past several months and undergoing treatment at a local hospital in Karachi. She has represented the Sindh province in several tournaments.

Remember deprived segment of society, says PM in Eid message

Her father had made an appeal to the newly-elected premier, conveying his helplessness in bearing expenses of the extremely expensive treatment due to his limited resources.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Khan, while congratulating the nation on Eidul Azha, urged citizens not to forget people who are deprived in this hour of happiness.
