More than the quickly fading sense of patriotism, the trend has more to do with the social media addiction
KARACHI: Nowadays the trend to celebrate Independence Day has merely come down to donning an attire in green and white followed by posting one’s pictures on social media platforms. But is that what patriotism is all about? Perhaps, it’s a little more than one’s clothing or the specific colours donned once a year.
More than the quickly fading sense of patriotism, the trend has more to do with the social media addiction where every event of one’s life, whether personal or impersonal, qualifies for a social media post.
For a true patriot it is a responsibility to do something which is not only towards the betterment of humanity but also goes beyond social media praise and brag while igniting the same sense in others.
