Speculations regarding a sequel to hit Bollywood film Dostana have been ongoing for years and they still haven't ended. The 2008 film was probably the first to address the taboo topic of homosexuality, bringing it into mainstream cinema.
Latest rumours suggest film-maker Karan Johar has now allegedly finalised a script for the upcoming sequel, also roping in Sidharth Malhotra and Janvhi Kapoor in lead roles, reported Times Now.
A source revealed that the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director always wanted a Dostana 2, especially after the first received much success. "He finally has a script for the film, which of course will speed up production. As for the cast, Karan has finalised both Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, and is currently still searching for the third lead role which will be played by a man, once again."
The insider added that, like the first, Dostana 2 will be a Tarun Mansukhani directorial. Following these rumours, Johar has taken matters into his own hands and shared a tweet stating that these reports are "baseless," thus denying all speculations.
Hello!!! All news circulating about DOSTANA 2 is untrue!!! Lots of speculation which is entirely baseless!!!— Karan Johar (@karanjohar) August 20, 2018
