The new govt and the economy

The victory speech made by Imran Khan seemed more like reading from the text of the oft-repeated promises

JAMSHORO: Pakistan’s economy is primarily based on agriculture. Hence, the GDP is a major composition of the agriculture sector with the remaining coming from the secondary and the services sectors. The victory speech made by Imran Khan seemed more like reading from the text of the oft-repeated promises other winning parties have made in the past.

The challenges faced by the economy of Pakistan, most importantly, include the grey economy and the massive tax evasion that the FBR is still trying to tackle. Second are the current account deficits with poor receipts for exports and rising imports.

As proposed previously ,tax awareness campaign to expand the tax net and curbing tax exemptions are a few measures to address the problem only if the ruling party stands true to its promise of ‘ruthless accountability’.
