Medical education: 38,062 students appear for entrance tests

PESHAWAR:
As many as 38,062 candidates including, 23,460 boys and 14,602 girls appeared for entrance tests for admissions to the public and private medical and dental colleges of the province.
The test had been conducted by the Khyber Medical University (KMU) while it was administered by the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA).
The test was simultaneously held at seven locations across the province including at Islamia Collegiate School ground in Peshawar, Haripur University in Haripur, Grassy Ground in Saidu Sharif, Gomal Medical College’s new building in Dera Ismail Khan, Abdul Wali Khan University Garden Campus in Mardan, Cadet College in Kohat and Malakand University Chakdara in Lower Dir.
The results of the test are expected to be announced within 24 hours and will be available on the KMU’s website (www.kmu.edu.pk) as well as on the ETEA’s website (www.etea.edu.pk). Results will also be communicated to candidates individually via SMS on their registered mobile phones through a specially prepared software by the IT Section of KMU.
At the Islamia Collegiate School ground in Peshawar, around 10,000 candidates appeared in the test whereas 5,402 students appeared at the Haripur University in Haripur. Around 5,407 students appeared at the Grassy Ground in Saidu Sharif, 3,775 at the Gomal Medical College in D I Khan, 6,792 candidates at the Abdul Wali Khan University Garden Campus in Mardan, 3,251 at the Cadet College in Kohat and 3,435 at the Malakand University Chakdara in Lower Dir appeared for the test.
KMU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Arshad Javaid, while talking to the media, expressed his satisfaction with the overall arrangements for entrance tests. He added that the rising number of candidates appearing for the entrance tests are an expression of their trust in the arrangements and transparent process of the test carried out jointly by KMU and ETEA.
