Sharma was shot dead on Saturday at a shop near Sadiq Faqeer ground in Mithi taluka. He sustained two gunshots.
In a reference to the politically-influential Arbab family, Khuhro alleged that the PPP's opponents could not accept their electoral defeat in Tharparkar. He said Sharma was among the most politically active workers of the party and his killing was intended to frighten the other workers. The newly-elected MPA of PPP, Arbab Lutfullah, also saw a conspiracy in Sharma's killing.
Talking to the media, Tharparkar SSP Imran Qureshi said the assailant has been identified. He assured that the police will arrest the suspect soon.
PPP worker shot dead in Tharparkar
An eye witness and friend of the slain Sharma, Nawaz Baghi, on whose shop the incident took place, told the police that he could identify the suspect. According to him, the suspect came on a motorcyle, fired gunshots and escaped.
The semi-urban towns in Tharparkar remained shut on Sunday as the PPP announced a day of mourning.
In a message on Saturday, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had condemned the murder. He had said that he felt grieved to hear the sad news and had asked the Sindh government to bring the killers to book without delay.
Bilawal had praised the contributions and support of Sharma to the party. He had expressed condolence with the family and conveyed his solidarity.

This is the fourth murder in the district this year. Three persons, including two trader brothers were killed in the first seven days of January in two separate incidents.
