The former federal minister for railways was stopped by the Motorway Police at the Rawal Toll Plaza near Lahore.
The PML-N leader was driving at a speed of 145km/h while the prescribed speed limit is 120km/h on motorway.
Rafique was en route to the session of the Punjab Assembly in Lahore and had to pay the Rs750 fine for the traffic offence.
Rafique is not the first PML-N leader to have been at the receiving end of a challan by the Motor Way Police as back on June 11, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi took a picture with police officials after he was charged with a traffic fine.
'Speeding' Abbasi fined in cash and selfies
The erstwhile premier’s vehicle was stopped by Motorway Police near Lahore’s Ravi Toll Plaza and fined Rs750 for speeding. The car, however, was being driven by Abbasi’s driver, Syed Maqsood.
After being issued a speeding ticket, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader obliged a request by the police officials for a picture.
