KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) heavyweight Arif Alvi has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will reveal the agenda of incoming government in his address to the nation tonight.

Speaking to reporters at Karachi airport on Sunday, he said that public concerns of health, education and employment shall be undertaken by the party's government. "No province shall be ignored," he asserted.

Dr Alvi also thanked Prime Minister Khan for posing trust in him.

“I would try to promote unity among the provinces and would ensure provision of human rights,” he said. “We would prioritise work on projects related to infrastructure, roads, transport and electricity. I would prefer to live in parliamentary lodges as a president.”

He also thanked the media, saying that the Pakistani nation deserved felicitations for voting for change. “Imran Khan has been elected as prime minister from the people’s vote. The journey for change has begun. The process of transformation has kicked off after Imran Khan’s election as the country’s prime minister,” said Alvi.

“Imran Khan would chalk out a road map today and would elaborate on our future strategy. Hopefully, he would abide by all promises that he has made to the public,” he said. The senior PTI leader said that he would ensure that no province of Pakistan faced negligence and that human rights would be ensured for people of all provinces. He also said that the new setup would strive towards ensuring the rights of the people of Balochistan.

Alvi also said cooperation would be extended to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to help improve the situation in Sindh. In Karachi, he said, special focus shall be made on transport, garbage, water and electricity issues as well as ensuring provision of employment, health and education facilities.

“My relation with the common man can never be weakened. I would keep maintaining public contact even as a president. I thank the people of Karachi who gave their mandate to PTI.”

Responding to a question regarding the cabinet members, the PTI leader said that the change was all due to the ‘captaincy’ of Imran Khan. “He [Imran Khan] knows how to get the job done no matter who’s the bowler and batsman is,” he remarked.

After the briefing, Alvi set off for his home. A large number of party leaders and workers had showed up to welcome him at the airport.
