ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Thursday warned that Jang/Geo Group could be banned from covering court proceedings "if deliberate misreporting is done in future".

Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar clarified that his last statement regarding the formation of a Joint Investigation Team was misreported and the TV channel aired an entire program discussing it. Justice Nisar further said that he had referred to the JIT formed in the Dawn Leaks case by the federal government.

Jang/Geo Group owner calls social media 'gutter'

The chief justice added that he unintentionally said Panamagate case which made headlines in the country's media. "Ask Mir Ibrahim [publisher] to appear before SC tomorrow," the CJP asked a Jang reporter present in the courtroom.

During the last hearing, the CJP observed that it was former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan who first inducted members of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) in a JIT.
