WikiLeaks: Solving Kashmir dispute will end Pakistan's support to terrorists

Pakistan’s support of terrorist groups working in Afghanistan and Kashmir is to maintain balance with India, according to a recently released WikiLeaks cable.

The WikiLeaks cable (reference no. 226531), which was released on 23 September 2009, revealed that Pakistan fears an India-friendly government in Afghanistan will give India an opportunity to operate against Pakistan from Afghanistan.

According to the cable, solving Kashmir dispute will dramatically improve the situation. The cable emphasized on US reassessing its policies towards India.
We need to reassess Indian involvement in Afghanistan and our own policies towards India, including the growing military relationship through sizable conventional arms sales, as all of this feeds Pakistani establishment paranoia and pushes them closer to both Afghan and Kashmir-focused terrorist groups while reinforcing doubts about U.S. intentions.

Who cares | 13 years ago | Reply Conclusion: India should hence hand over Kashmir and vouch for eternal peace in South Asia :)
mussarat | 13 years ago | Reply Let's again wait for the bleak era of General (retired) Musharraf, a "master-double game player" when, according to him, the Kashmir issue had almost reached threshold of solution. It was the nothing but the matter of immediate future, I heard general Musharraf often boasting before his friends, whenever he was under the seizures of "over-consumption". According to him, If he got some more chance to rule country, the core issue of Kashmir would have resolved by now. Very straight and very fair, the occupied Kashmir and some other parts of Pakistan including Laddakh and some remote areas of Baltistan would have gone to India to achieve and realise the concept of "Akhand Bharat" without firing a single bullet from the either side. Musharraf should be ashamed, the same India also denied him visa after he was kicked out of the power. Mussarat
